Board Approves School Liaison Officer (SLO) Contract

Board approves new SLO contract, August 29th, 2024

Dear Gladiator Families & Staff,

At last night’s Special Board of Education meeting (Aug 29, 2024), the Board approved the contract with the Village of Fowlerville to continue providing a School Liaison Officer (SLO) for Fowlerville Community Schools. Following a meeting with representatives from the district, the village, and the police department, it was decided—at the Board’s request—that Officer Ryan Edmonds, a ten-year veteran of the Fowlerville Police Department, will be appointed by the police department as the new School Liaison Officer. This transition is expected to take place by the end of September.

We are very grateful to Officer Tony Coln, who has served as our SLO for nearly two years. We not only appreciate Officer Coln’s service but also that he was the handler for therapy dog Henry, who provided additional support for our students. We also want to thank Officer Coln for bringing Henry back to our buildings if needed, to support our students.

Finally, I want to thank the Village of Fowlerville and the Fowlerville Police Department for their willingness to work together with the district as we continue to strengthen our partnership with the primary goal of ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and community members.

It is an honor to serve in this community and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns related to this matter. My email address is: [email protected] and my phone number is 517.223.6000.

Thank you,

Matthew Stuard

Superintendent
