Welcome to the H.T. Smith Library Home Page
Hello! My name is Alyssa Day and I am the librarian and computer teacher for H.T. Smith Elementary. Previously I have taught second grade, first grade and kindergarten. I earned my Masters degree in Information and Library Science from Wayne State University and my Bachelors degree in Child Development from Michigan State University (Go Green!). Fowlerville is a great place to live, learn and grow! It is truly wonderful to teach our community's young minds everyday. :)
Throughout the year students will listen to quality texts, learn behaviors and strategies that strong readers use, as well as select texts to read and enjoy at home!
Library Schedule
Each class receives a 25 minute library period each week.
**Please help your child to keep his/her library book in a safe place and to return it on his/her library day! Oh, and remember to read it and read it again! :)
Some of the areas we will focus on this year include...
- Kindergarten - book care, roles of authors and illustrators, why we need books, and more…
- First Grade - determining main idea, summarizing, comparing fiction and nonfiction, decoding strategies and more…
- Second Grade - compare different genres (fairy tale, realistic fiction, etc.), inferring, strategies for reading nonfiction and more...
